Measuring Your Windows

Click for larger version

Make a simple drawing of the window (See drawing) and decide what type of rod will be used.

Decide where the rod is going to be mounted and indicate this on the drawing.

Measure the window (as indicated on the drawing)
7 – the width of the window – casing to casing measurement, from left to right
4 – the length of the window – casing to casing measurement, from top to bottom
6 – ceiling to top of casing measurement
9 – measurement on left side of window to corner, window, door, etc.
10 – measurement on right side of window to corner, window, door, etc.
2 – measurement from top of casing to floor

Then…

Determine your rod width
Determine your drape width
Determine your drape length

Select Finished Length

Existing Rods

Measure from the bottom of the ring to the floor and take off ½” for clearance from floor, to select finished length for all styles of drapes except Grommet Drapes.

For Grommet Drapes you will measure from the top of the rod to the floor and take off ½” for clearance from floor and add 1 ¼” as the grommet drapes hang above the rod.

New Rods

Measure from the top of the casing to the floor and add 4” to that measurement if possible. If you wish them to puddle on the floor you will have to add that measurement as well to select finished length.

For Grommet Drapes add 1¼” to where you want the top of the rod to be mounted.

Measure from casing to casing across your window and add 16” to this measurement for stacking.

Divide this measurement by 2 to determine width of each drape.
