Rainbows’ story started in 1971 by making premium quality drapes for Sears and other retailers. As the popularity of independent consultants and decorators rose in the 80s the client base broadened and innovation and custom design began.
In the mid-nineties, Cheryl Meiklejohn, a then client of Rainbow’s took the role of administrator and took to the business like a bee to honey. In a few short years, Cheryl became a partner and then sole owner by the late 90s.
In the early 2000s Cheryl’s daughters, Kim and Penny took on a multitude of roles in the workroom and in the office and are still part of the Rainbow team to this day.
Over the past couple of decades, Rainbow’s services have gone from sewing room to design studio, including design consultations, check measures, and installation management. A full-service one-stop shop for all your custom window treatment needs.
As Rainbow passes its 50 year in business mark in 2022 the vision is clear, we are here to stay! With goals to continue making the process and deliverables as easy and enjoyable as possible, we also strive to educate the next generation on the importance of high standards and handcrafted practices that keep custom design an important part of the interior design industry.
